I
developed a passion and talent for writing whilst still at school, but
preferred to play the class clown instead.
In
my twenties I began to write again, mainly poetry and short stories. But never
sent anything away for publishing.
Mid
thirties I decided to try my hand at stand up comedy and begun writing all my
own material. For three years I gigged in comedy venues across the U.K. I
also ran my own comedy club ‘StandupwithJamie’
During
this time I was given an opportunity to write a piece for Scotland’s Hollyrood
magazine. A six hundred word article about life as a woman trucker.
Still
nurturing a lifelong dream to be a freelance writer; I retired from stand up.
Then I enrolled for the Writers Bureau course; this gave me the skills and
confidence needed to get my work published again.
I’ve
just started a blog occasional mutterings to keep me writing regularly. I write a
mixture of both fiction and non-fiction. Humour is a big passion and this tends
to come across in my writing,
